Past Opening of the Beaches Parades: 2004

2004 saw Da Band cool and limin' away da aftanoon, serenading the other marchers! We again defied tradtion and established our own reviewing stand, the only band or group in the history of parading that has ever dared to step beyond the bounds of concrete and asphalt, into the exalted arena of judges and minor gods (and goddesses!). Realizing the poor souls in the parade had never been blessed with hearing us, as we reviewed each troupe we also played melodious toots on our horns for the weary marchers in the street.
2004 Conchers were expected to also rate each passing troupe. We tried to be generous...

Jud & Linda, King & Queen Conch, rally the troops to our higher calling... the bringing of merriment into the sad lives of average people.

Obviously Parrotheads, Ray & Ruth fit right into the Conch Band spirit!
Emerson was forced to fend off surly pirates, using only his Slide Conch and his bare hands! (We Won!!)
Anne & Emerson, the "A & E Channel" in a candid shot caught by a visiting paparazzi!
There is always time for experienced Conchers to share their secret blatting techniques with each other.

Music, revelry and art... Conching is a complete cultural experience!
